Water level in Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant cooling pond decreases due to heat
Pravda Ukraine
The water level in the cooling pond of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) continues to fall; soon, pumping water may become challenging.

Details: Despite the fact that all reactors remain in cold shutdown, the presence of this water is critical to the plant’s nuclear safety, according to IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi.
In recent weeks, IAEA scientists at the station have detected a steady fall in the water level in the station’s cooling pond. If this pattern continues, pumping water from the pond will become challenging.
The government warned that hot summer weather makes it difficult to keep the reservoir’s water level stable.
Background: Over the last week, the staff of the International Atomic Energy Agency heard explosions and shots fired at various distances from the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
