White House sees no serious push from Russians for ground offensive

Pravda Ukraine

The White House has commented on the situation with the Russian Armed Forces’ attempts to advance in Ukraine’s east and south.

Source: John Kirby, National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the White House, at a briefing, reported by European Pravda

Quote: “We don’t see a lot of movement on the battlefront from east to south. There’s — there’s — neither side is really making a lot of progress, and we’re not seeing any major push by the Russians to some sort of ground offensive.”

Details: Kirby said that, therefore, he does not rule out that the Russian army may not try to advance when the ground is frozen better.

Background:

  • Earlier, the White House stated that it was necessary to make a decision on assistance to Ukraine as soon as possible, as the next few months would be critical.
  • According to media reports, key aides to US President Joe Biden warned at a closed-door meeting in Congress that without the approval of additional military aid to Ukraine, significant difficulties could arise at the front.
  • CNN stated that the US military believes Ukraine’s next major counteroffensive in the south is likely to take place no sooner than two years from now.
  • US intelligence officials believe that in the short term, the reduction in US funding will not have a significant impact on the fighting in Ukraine.
