Details: 17-year-old boy Oleh, who “openly opposed forced Russification” at a local school, managed to leave for the territory controlled by Ukraine. One day, the boy and his friend sneaked into an occupation checkpoint and wrote “Glory to the Armed Forces of Ukraine!” on concrete blocks.

Eva and Yehor, 15-year-old twins whose grandfather did not allow them to attend Russian schools where the Russian curriculum was being implemented, were also among the returned children.

Quote from Save Ukraine: “He directly told the occupiers that the children would study online, although they constantly threatened to take the children away.”

Details: Also, 10-year-old Mykyta, whose parents were killed by the Russian attack, escaped from the occupation. The Russians threatened to separate the boy from his grandmother and place him in an orphanage because of the loss of his mother and father. Now Mykyta and his grandmother are safe.

Quote from Save Ukraine: “The story of each rescued person is sad and important because the children who ended up in the temporarily occupied territories witnessed the crimes of the Russian Federation against humanity and childhood.”

Background: Five children aged 8 to 17 years were returned from the occupied part of Kherson Oblast to Ukraine-controlled territory in early February.
