Zelenskyy and Czech president discuss air defence, training of Ukrainian troops and Ministry of Unity

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has held a video conversation with his Czech counterpart Petr Pavel on bilateral relations and military cooperation.

Details: During the conversation, Zelenskyy told Pavel about the situation on the battlefield and also raised the possibility of training Ukrainian brigades in Czechia “following the example of France and the United States.”
Quote: “The head of the Ukrainian state stressed that the brigades should train with the weapons and equipment with which they will return to Ukraine,” the statement said.
Zelenskyy also spoke about the consequences of the Russian attack on Kyiv on the morning of 20 December and spoke about Ukraine’s needs for various types of air defence systems and armoured vehicles, the President’s Office added.
Zelenskyy and Pavel also discussed the implementation of the Czech initiative to supply artillery shells and agreed to work with partners to further fund it in 2025.
Finally, the leaders discussed the possibility of opening a representative office of the newly created Ukrainian Ministry of National Unity in Czechia, the President’s Office said.
