Zelenskyy and new Portuguese PM agree to start working on security agreement

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a telephone conversation with Luís Montenegro, the new Prime Minister of Portugal.

Details: The Ukrainian president congratulated Montenegro on his appointment and “his personal principled stance in support of Ukraine”.
“We discussed the implementation of previous defence agreements between our countries and instructed the teams to start working on the preparation of a bilateral security agreement in the framework of the G7 Declaration,” Zelenskyy said.
The leaders of both countries also coordinated future joint contacts.

- Last week, after several failed attempts to elect a speaker, Portugal’s newly elected parliament eventually appointed one thanks to the agreement between the Social Democrats and the Socialists.
