Zelenskyy approves composition of delegation for negotiations on EU accession. Who will take part?

On 21 June, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree approving the composition of the Ukrainian delegation to participate in accession negotiations with the European Union.

Details: The delegation for EU accession negotiations is led by Olha Stefanishyna, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration.
It will also include Andrii Yermak, the head of the President’s Office, and his deputies Iryna Mudra and Ihor Zhovkva; Maria Marchenko, Deputy Head of the President’s Office Department for European Integration; Oleksandr Korniienko, the first deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada; Taras Kachka, the trade representative of Ukraine; Yevhen Perebyinis, Deputy Head of Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry; and Vsevolod Chentsov, ambassador of Ukraine to the EU.
The decree also mentions the deputies and first deputies of all Ukrainian ministries – only Ruslan Strilets, Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Protection, is represented at the ministerial level.
Director General of the Government Office for the Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Oleksandr Ilkov, Head of the State Statistics Service Ihor Verner, Head of the Antimonopoly Committee Pavlo Kyrylenko, Deputy Chairman of the National Bank Serhii Nikolaichuk, and Maksym Libanov, member of the National Securities Commission, will also join the delegation.
Zelenskyy’s decree also governs the adoption of directives for negotiations with the EU and directs the government to organise and approve the personal makeup of the working groups preparing Ukraine’s negotiating positions.
On the afternoon of 21 June, the EU Council approved Ukraine and Moldova’s negotiation frameworks, as well as the holding of intergovernmental conferences that will officially launch accession negotiations on 25 June.
Prior to that, Moldova determined who would be the lead negotiator for EU membership, and President Maia Sandu issued a decree to initiate the talks.
