Zelenskyy debriefed on former Ukrainian lawmaker Iryna Farion’s murder: versions, including Russia’s participation, investigated

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that on the morning of 20 July, he received new reports on the murder of former MP Iryna Farion, and all versions are being investigated, including the one leading to Russia and its secret services.

Quote from Zelenskyy: “This morning, Ihor Klymenko, Ukraine’s Minister of Internal Affairs, and Vasyl Maliuk, Ukraine’s Head of Security Service, presented new reports on the investigation into Iryna Farion’s murder.
[Footage from] all available surveillance cameras is being checked, witnesses are being interviewed, and the territory of several districts is being explored. All versions are being investigated, including the one leading to Russia.”
Details: Zelenskyy added that the Interior Minister, Deputy Prosecutors General and the heads of the National Police and the Security Service are in Lviv.
Background:
- On the evening of 19 July, an attempt was made on the life of former MP Iryna Farion on Masaryk Street in Lviv.
- After the attempted assassination, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine’s Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko and Vasyl Maliuk, Head of Ukraine’s Security Service, were promptly reporting on the search for the attacker.
- Later, Farion died in hospital.
