Quote: “I instructed the Ministry of Defence, the General Staff and the Cabinet of Ministers to propose a solution so that the take-off of Kinzhal hypersonic missiles’ carriers do not paralyse the country for hours.”
Details: It is noted that at the meeting, the president listened to a large report by Defence Minister Rustem Umierov on the needs of Ukrainian soldiers in vehicles, missiles, ammunition, equipment and services – everything necessary for the further liberation of Ukraine.
Other issues on the agenda included the implementation of current contracts, contracts for the next year with both domestic defence companies and foreign suppliers, and the systematisation of expected international technical assistance.
There was also a report from Strategic Industry Minister Oleksandr Kamyshin on increasing production at domestic defence companies.
Zelenskyy received reports from Commander-in-Chief Valerii Zaluzhnyi and commanders Oleksandr Syrskyi, Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, Eduard Moskalov and Yurii Sodol.
Background:
- The Air Force attributes the prolonged flight time of Russian MiG-31K fighters in the air recently to the practice of refuelling midair.
- As business and the economy suffer from prolonged air-raid warnings, services are not functioning, and children do not go to school, the question of whether it is reasonable to issue an air-raid warning has been raised again.
- The Air Force noted that the decision on whether to cancel an air-raid warning for the time of long-lasting flights of the Russian MiG-31K fighter jets can only be made by the top leadership of Ukraine. Meanwhile, the threat of missile attacks with Kindzhal missiles remains real.
- Yurii Ihnat, the spokesperson for the Air Force of Ukraine, explained that if there is a threat of ballistic missile use, an air-raid warning is issued in certain oblasts where ballistic missiles can reach. MiG-31K (the Kinzhal air-to-ground missile launched from it) can reach any part of Ukraine.
