Quote: “You know, there are currently 600,000 Russian troops on the territory of our country. The Ukrainian army now has 880,000 [personnel].
However, these 880,000 are defending the entire country. The Russian forces are concentrated in several areas, giving them a numerical advantage in certain regions. Once the war ends, we need to understand the role of other countries’ contingents. We support this idea and need to understand its scale. Secondly, we need to understand what the future of the Ukrainian army will look like.”
Details: Zelenskyy added that he is in talks with allies about the potential deployment of peacekeepers in Ukraine. While Ukraine is in favour of deploying allied forces, these discussions are still in the early, “general” stages. This could also become part of the security guarantees. The president further mentioned that he will be discussing this matter with the UK Prime Minister.
The president also said that Ukraine currently produces about 33-34% of all the weapons the country needs per year. Before the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, this figure was less than 10%.
At the same time, he stated, nearly 30% is manufactured in Europe and more than 30% in the United States.
